 CYF Valentine's Dinner
On February 14th, the Wakonda congregation came together for a special Valentine's Dinner served by the CYF and Chi-Rho. The dinner is an annual tradition, and is one of the primary fundraisers for the CYF for their summer mission trip. Post-dinner entertainment included a Wakonda rendition of The Newlywed Game. The summer VBS theme for this year was Crocodile Dock. For five days in July, children learned important Bible stories, sang songs, and completed several craft projects. The following Sunday, all of the children performed a music routine they learned during their stay at VBS.  Easter Egg Hunt
Once again this year Wakonda held our annual Easter Egg Hunt. The event was free and open to all children in our community. Of course, it wouldn't be a real Easter Egg Hunt without the Easter Bunny. The Easter Bunny greeted children and posed for a complimentary picture with each child. Well over 100 children participated in the annual event.  Valentine's Dinner & Karaoke
Our CYF youth group catered a Valentine's Dinner for the Wakonda Congregation as a fund raiser for future mission trips. After a wonderful dinner, the congregation was entertained by some willing (and not so willing) Karaoke performances. 2008 PICTURES
 2nd ANNUAL SOFTBALL GAME
On Wednesday, September 3rd Wakonda held it's 2nd Annual Softball Game at the Carney Softball Complex. Team Badger took on Team Ornduff once again. We're not really sure who won, but everyone had a great time!  GALILEAN SERVICE at Easter Lake
Earlier this summer we held a special Galilean Service at Easter Lake. The lake made such an amazing backdrop to our worship time. Several people from the church were baptised in the lake. After the service we enjoyed a pot-luck meal, played games, and enjoyed a time of fellowship on such a beautiful day.  EASTER EGG HUNT
On Saturday, March 22nd, Wakonda was packed full of young children excited to get their picture taken with the Easter Bunny and take part in our Easter Egg Hunt. We were very excited to see more than 120 children from the community participate.  SPRING VBS - BEACH PARTY
On March 14th, there was a Beach Party going on at Wakonda. Over 50 children participated in our Spring Vacation Bible School. The children went surfing through the scriptures, worked on crafts, choreographed a song, and had a great time playing games with their friends.  VALENTINES DANCE
Wakonda's Valentines Dance was held on Friday, February 15th and we had a great turnout for our 1st Annual event. Everyone danced and sang Karoake until well after 9pm.  FAT TUESDAY - PANCAKE SUPPER/RACES
At Wakonda, Fat Tuesday can mean only one thing...pancakes. Our annual Fat Tuesday tradition includes a pancake supper for all to enjoy. The children participate in the Pancake Races, which are as much fun for the spectators as the racers. 2007 PICTURES
 KIDS AGAINST HUNGER
Kids Against Hunger came to Wakonda on November 21st. Volunteers spent 11 hours packaging meals to be shipped to those in need in Tanzania, which is located in East Africa. Although many members of the congregation volunteer regularly at Kids Against Hunger events on Saturday mornings, this is the first time Kids Against Hunger has come to Wakonda. The event was a huge success, with enough meals packaged to serve 22,680 people.  TRICK-OR-TREAT NIGHT
Wakonda held our first annual Trick-or-Treat night on Halloween night at the church. The congregation decorated the church and dressed in costumes to welcome the trick-or-treaters. Sunday, September 9th was certainly a Celebration! The entire congregation came together for a Fishers of Men themed outdoor service. The service began with a short play re-enacting Mark 1:16-20. The sermon was provided by our special guest speaker - Rev. Bill Spangler-Dunning.  WEDNESDAYS AT WAKONDA - KICKOFF
The kickoff for Wednesdays at Wakonda was held on August 29th. We had a great turnout! The children played games and adults enjoyed some fellowship time. Hot dogs, sodas, and ice cream were enjoyed by all. View All Wednesdays at Wakonda Kickoff Pictures  GOD SQUAD - SHOW CHOIR CAMP
Lisa Kelsey, with the help of several volunteers, put together a Show Choir Camp composed of Wakonda youth. The group practiced daily from August 6th through August 10th, and performed to a standing ovation from the congregation on August 12th. View All God Squad Pictures  VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL (VBS)
VBS was held July 8th thru 12th. Nearly 100 children in grades K through 5 enjoyed bible studies and fun activities around The Great Bible Reef theme. Children learned about Caring, Helping, Trusting, Believing, and Listening. View All VBS Pictures |
