group of people pictureWEDNESDAYS AT WAKONDA

Wednesday nights will once again be Church Night! Years ago it was common for Wednesday nights to be considered church night, but unfortunately this emphasis has been lost. Do you remember when schools would avoid planning activities on Wednesday nights to allow time for our youth to attend church? For the most part, those days are just a memory, but throughout the year Wakonda will work to make Wednesday Night = Church Night. We have many fun, family activities planned throughout the year, and there will be numerous learning opportunities to enrich the mind and spirit.

movie nightMOVIE NIGHT

Grab your popcorn and a bottle of your favorite soda, and sit down to a movie that the whole family can enjoy. It's just like going to movies but better because the snacks and movie tickets are free, and no one will get mad if you touch the back of their seat. All movies will be shown in the Thomason Reception room on Sunday evenings*.

At Wednesdays at Wakonda we'll show some of the good-hearted, family favorites:
Akeelah and the Bee - Previously shown
Facing the Giants - Previously shown
The Ultimate Gift - Previously shown
The Nativity Story - Previously shown
Because of Winn Dixie - Previously shown
 Secondhand Lions - Previously shown
The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe - Coming in March
Charlotte's Web - Coming in April

* Wakonda Movie Night has been moved to Sunday to better complement other activities.
family dinner nightFAMILY DINNER NIGHT

Most families struggle to find the time to make a homemade meal to sit down and enjoy with all members of your family. Take advantage of finding that time during Wednesdays at Wakonda. In addition to cooking for your family, please consider doubling the recipe to help others in need. Meals for Hope is program designed to help feed the Hope Ministry Families. Wakonda Christian Church has designed the Family Dinner Night around helping fill the need to provide a meals for seven families on a monthly basis. Recipes that are doubled will be frozen in a separate container and delivered to Hope Ministries by members of Wakonda. Cooks of all ages are welcome in the Wakonda kitchen. Family Dinner Night begins October 10th and will occur monthy. Refer to the schedule at the left for upcoming dates or call Lisa Msuya at 515-246-0454 for more information.
