SUNDAY SCHOOL

Wakonda offers a youth Sunday school program from September thru May while school is in session. Sunday school begins at 9:45 and ends around 10:30am, allowing families to attend either 1st at 8:30am or 2nd service at 11:00am.

There are 3 age divisions for Sunday school:
Sonshine - Grades K thru 5
SonShine is for our youngest learners in Christ. The children begin in the sanctuary with music with Lisa Kelsey. After approximately 20 minutes of music, the children are escorted to the Jim Cord Community Center where they begin their Sunday School lesson. The children then remain in the Cord room until they are picked up by a parent or guardian.

Chi Rho - Grades 6 thru 8
Chi Rho (pronounced ki-row) is a fellowship of youth in grades 6th through 8th and they meet across from Lisa Kelsey's office in the upper wing. Chi Rho will be utilizing the teachings from the Grapple series of bible studies. The middle school youth typically face many issues of change in their lives. Chi Rho provides the kids with a place within the church to explore issues of faith and spirituality. It also provides the opportunity for our kids to define their own personality and Christian character within a group of peers and committed adults.

CYF - Grades 9 thru 12
Christian Youth Fellowship (CYF) is for 9th through 12th graders and they meet in the room just inside the entrance to the Cord room in the lower level. CYF offers an atmosphere of openness and acceptance for all high school students. We love digging into the Bible and learning together what God has to say about all the stuff we deal with every day. Our first love is for God, and through His love, we're able to really help each other grow closer to Him! Come and join us!

AWANA WEDNESDAY NIGHT PROGRAM

NEW THIS YEAR! Wakonda is pleased to announce that we are bringing Awana to our Wednesday youth program that meets during the school year from 6pm to 7pm. For nearly 60 years, Awana has been a leader in children’s ministry, helping churches and parents worldwide raise children and youth to know, love and serve Christ. More than 12,000 U.S. churches run Awana with programs in all 50 states. Awana can also be found in over 6,000 churches in 109 other countries. The founders of Awana derived the Awana name from the first letters of Approved workmen are not ashamed as taken from 2 Timothy 2:15 of the Bible. SPARKS - Grades K thru 2
The Sparks program is firmly grounded in Scripture. The three handbooks feature:

Basic truths about God, Jesus Christ, salvation and the Bible
A clear and consistent presentation of the gospel message
An increased emphasis on Scripture memory over our preschool materials. In three years, a child will learn and review over 65 verses, many of which cover salvation and key Christian doctrine, establishing a foundation of biblical wisdom.

T & T - Grades 3 thru 5
The name Truth & Training reflects the passion of Awana to teach third- through sixth-grade boys and girls the truth of God’s Word and to train them to follow Christ in their daily lives. Our goal is that many of today’s young people will become tomorrow’s church leaders. T&T is the program that trains the leaders of tomorrow — today.

Trek- Grades 6 thru 8
Trek is a 3-year rotating curriculum from 24-7 Ministries designed for middle school students. Each year-based set of items is part of a series. The series, Billboard, Roadsign and Dashboard, are titled to reflect a road trip theme. Each series contains several items, including the following: Trek Check, Bible Studies, Compass Points, JumpStart videos, leader guides, certificates and other award items.

CYF - Christian Youth Fellowship

CYF is for our high school students in grades 9 thru 12. The focus of our Wednesday night CYF program is on serving others. Throughout the year we'll perform many mission opportunities throughout the community. Certain activities may require more than an hour so we'll communicate with parents in advance if we need to extend our meeting time beyond 7:00pm
