About Us

Who We Are

Welcome to Wakonda Christian Church! We are a Disciples of Christ church welcoming people of all backgrounds and multiple opinions. We are an open-minded community of faith seeking to encounter God in new and exciting ways. Our community is centered around the communion table, which inspires us and sends us into the world to work to improve our local and global community. Like our world, our worship is a blend of traditional and contemporary styles; and our theology and practice are open to differences and rooted in God’s love for the entire world. We invite you to join us in worship and in service!

To be a welcoming faith community for all built on the love of Christ. With a passion and zeal for the lost and hurting world, our church looks for ways to build bridges in a divided world.
Our Vision

New Here?

We are located on the corner of Fleur Dr. and Watrous Ave. Our denomination is called the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and everyone is welcome, no matter where you are on your faith journey.

Authentic Worship

Our sanctuary is located on the first floor off the Fleur Dr. entrance.  Worship service begins at 10:00 a.m. and is appropriate for all ages.  We are committed to welcoming all people from the youngest children in our Preschool Pray-Ground, Elementary Wakonda Worship bags, to providing listening devices and sermon manuscripts for people with hearing impairments.

Our nursery is located in our Preschool, on the first floor from the West Parking Lot entrance. Nursery is available for our youngest friends during Sunday school through worship service.

You will find a welcoming and blended worship service of traditional hymns and choir, Taize and Spirituals, as well as modern and contemporary music.  Our musical tastes reflects our commitment to welcoming all expressions of faith.  We practice open communion, meaning everyone is welcome to partake (We believe it is God’s table and not our own.)

You may wonder what sort of dress is appropriate, but to us, we care less about what you are wearing and more about who you are. We welcome people wearing jeans or suits, dresses or pants, T-shirts or button-ups. We welcome you to come as you are.
